entry the fifth!

Hey there fellow Deviants! Boy, it's been a while.

So I took a break from dArt for a while and now I'm back! I've been doing mostly glamour/pin-up sets lately and I'm happy to report that my work has been featured on a couple of websites. Wooo! I should have a poster going up around Calgary soon but I haven't heard back about that quite yet.

So I really ought to put up more of my stuff . . . I have a huge backlog of photos that I've been meaning to submit, but I've been doing a bit more writing these days and less picture-taking, so I just haven't gotten around to it. Soon! Sooooon . . .

I'm the type of person who feels that, nowadays, anyone who picks up a camera fancies themselves a photographer.

I'm also the type of person who picks up a camera and fancies herself a photographer.

Oops.

Now, I realize that I shouldn't really be calling myself a photographer; rather, "picture-taker" or something equally low. I have been meaning to get schooled in the technical aspects of the trade, but when it comes to creating something worthy of your affection, I'm pretty much winging it. I suppose I take photos more for myself than for anyone else, so perhaps the "rules" aren't being followed as closely as they should be.

That being said, I'm trying, I swear! Thank you sincerely for the constructive comments, I think I've learned enough from you deviants to fill a textbook.

All of you Deviants are too damn good. Garrr.
If I could, I've have about 3000 pieces in my favorites because I love soo much of the stuff I come across here on dA. So if I favorited you once or twice, it probably means I love lots of your work but didn't want to go overboard. If I'm watching you, well, you're pretty much a god/goddess of artistic expression in my eyes.

Yawoo. So I've decided to take the plunge and upgrade myself from a lowly "art appreciator" to full-blown "photographer". Ballsy, but genius!

Maybe it's because I finally got around to submitting some photos taken with an actual purpose (dArt) in mind, and wouldn't you know it -- gasp! -- I've gotten some positive feedback. Thank you much everyone, you've given me the boost of confidence to keep my dA account runnin'. Perhaps soon I'll get around to actually learning what the hell I'm doing....but I digress.

I think I can say the general consensus I've received is that my gallery is very eclectic and varied. Personally, the word I would use is schizophrenic: there doesn't seem to be a theme, a concept, a method to my madness. I guess there isn't one, really -- I love so many different styles of art, from cutesy-wutesy to dark and edgy.

Maybe that's the attraction. :aww:

Well now, this is a nifty little corner of the web, isn't it?

So I define myself as an "art appreciator", which in my case translates to "one who cannot create any decent art herself". Much to my own dismay, I can't draw worth a damn. My fingerpainting probably hasn't progressed much since the tender age of four.

I am a casual photographer at best, and at worst an inept girl with certain preconceived notions of "good" photography is. It goes without saying that I have very little training in this particular field, so I apologize in advance for any cringeworthy works I may put on display. However, despite a total lack of both skill and self-confidence, I continue snapping away in hopes of one day taking the exalted "good" photograph.

So be a peach and put up with me, will you? :floating:
